Dr Borja Sanz Urquijo is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto. He has been a Researcher at the DeustoTech-Computing research unit since 2008 and is the Head Researcher from 2015 to 2018. He received his PhD from the PhD in Information Systems with full marks cum laude in 2012 on malware detection in Android mobile devices. His primary research skills and interest include machine learning, big data, knowledge discovery and information retrieval. He is working in the fairness, ethics, accountability and the impact of artificial intelligence in society.
He has a long track record leading national and international projects in the research areas previously mentioned and has worked closely with different social agents, enterprises and other research centers. He has been a researcher in more than 50, between H2020, national and private projects and project manager in several of them.
He has published several book chapters and more than 60 articles in specialized national and international impact journals such as Logic Journal of IGPL, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications or Expert Systems with Applications.
