Markel, graduated with a degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the University of Deusto (2023). During his studies, he participated in various projects as a research assistant at the Deusto Design Research Group. He has developed the first two years of his professional career in the field of product design and development at B.lux, a Basque company specialized in the design and manufacture of lighting products. He is currently working as a research assistant at the University of Deusto while simultaneously pursuing a master’s degree in Project Management at VIU. He is passionate about design aesthetics and design as a mediating tool. Markel has joined the Deusto Design Research Group team as part of the European Co-Bien project, which seeks to address loneliness in older adults through a new IoT product concept. His role involves coordinating and carrying out the development of the initial phases of conceptualisation and prototyping, as well as supporting the entire creative process of the project and researching the issue from a design perspective.
