    López García, Alejandro
    Doctor in Charge

Alejandro is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Deusto, specializing in multiphase flows and their interaction with solid surfaces and bodies. With extensive experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Discrete Element Modeling (DEM), erosion processes, and particle technology, Alejandro has contributed to multiple research projects across academia and industry.
Alejandro holds degrees in Electro-Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of the Basque Country and a PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. His doctoral research focused on modeling surface deformation in erosion processes using CFD.
During his career, Alejandro has held a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position at the University of Leeds, collaborating on projects such as CHARIOT (with Procter & Gamble) and ADDoPT (with the pharmaceutical industry). His work in this role integrated advanced CFD and DEM techniques in particle technology along with experimental techniques.
Alejandro’s achievements include a Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan awarded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, along with research grants from the Government of the Basque Country and the Spanish Supercomputing Network amongst others.
