    Ana holds a degree in Electronics and Industrial Automation Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto (2001). She also earned an Executive MBA in Business Management from the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences at UPV/EHU (2006), receiving special recognition for achieving the best academic record in her cohort and for presenting the best Master's thesis for the 2005-2006 class. Additionally, she completed a Master's in Occupational Risk Prevention in all three specialties (Workplace Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology) and a Course in International Business Management at the School of Industrial Organization (EOI) in Madrid, where she was also awarded special recognition for having the best academic record.

    Professionally, Ana has held management roles in companies associated with Medium/High Voltage Electrical Networks and Systems, as well as in consulting.

    She earned a Ph.D. in Engineering for the Information Society and Sustainable Development from the University of Deusto, graduating Cum Laude with International Distinction. Her doctoral thesis was titled “Mathematical Patterns Associated with Genetic Recombination in HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 via Explainability in CNNs. Relationship of Interpretability Scoremaps with Viral Phylogeny and the Role of the Third Codon Nucleotide.”

    Currently, Ana is involved in teaching and research at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto. Her research areas include applied mathematics in genomics, gene expression and regulation analysis, protein structure and function prediction, analysis of massive sequencing data, development of new tools for genomic data analysis and visualization, and implementation of algorithms for complex multimodal data analysis.

    Ana is also a Répétiteur for choirs and opera and zarzuela singers.
