Jon García Barruetabeña holds a PhD in Mechanical and Materials Behaviour. From 2011 to 2013 he worked as a Researcher at Ikerlan IK4 until he joined the University of Deusto in 2013. He is accredited by ANECA as Full Professor (2021), Private University Doctoral Professor (2013) and as Hired Doctoral Professor (2013) in the Area of Mechanical Engineering and has two six-year research periods in the 2008-2013 and 2015-2020 tranche, as well as a six-year transfer period in the 2013-2018 tranche. His scientific activity focuses on the analysis of the dynamic behaviour of systems with viscoelastic damping, mainly focused on the automotive sector. He has been PI in more than 20 competitive and contract projects. He has published 25 JCR - Q1 articles (60%) and 4 in Q2 (17%), has supervised four doctoral theses and is currently Coordinator of the Area of Mechanics and Design and director of the Master's Degree in Automotive Design and Manufacturing. He has been PI of the Applied Mechanics research group at the University of Deusto between 2013-2017. This group has been recognised by the Basque Government as type B within the Basque University System, in the period 2016-2021 (IT1261-19) and in the period 2022-2027.
