Lola holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a Master’s in Biomedical Eng. from the Technical University of Madrid. She completed her Ph.D. at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) with a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science, focusing on contactless ultrasound technologies for the non-destructive characterization of composite materials, particularly plant tissues.
She has conducted research at institutions like MIT, U. of Glasgow, Harvard, Technical University of Valencia, and U. of California, supported by competitive postdoctoral fellowships such as Juan de la Cierva and José Castillejo. She also has experience in the private sector and entrepreneurship. Her research focuses on the design and development of ultrasound-based techniques and systems for non-invasive process monitoring and complex material characterization. Applications include Non-Destructive Testing, the agri-food industry, and the energy sector. Currently, she is an Ikerbasque Research Fellow.
