Alcides, has a degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the Methodist University of Angola (2015) and Master in Engineering in Automation, Electronics and Industrial Control from the Deusto University (2022). He spent the first year of his professional career as a technical supervisor, managing maintenance teams for different platforms. The following year he moved to the development area of BMS (building Management System) projects, SCADA projects and in parallel he developed installation, repair and maintenance activities for medium power electronic systems (UPS, AVR, Ratifiers). After 4 years he moved to the position of Technical Director, with tasks of managing technical teams and project management, adding commercial activities and client management, where he stayed for 1 year and then left for Spain in search of new challenges. After finishing the master's degree, he started a new position as a PLC, HMI and SCADA programmer, developing migration projects from old systems to new technologies and change of maneuvers in different foundry, machining, sandblasting, molding and chemical demolding machines. Alcides will develop his research in the field of "Edge Intelligence" analysing the suitability of different hw. acceleration technologies (GPU, NPU, FPGA,...) based on factors such as cost, power consumption, scalability or availability to decide the resources to use for the implementation of accelerated AI algorithms.
