    Haizea holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), completed in 2021, and a degree in Environmental Sciences from the National University of Distance Education (UNED), completed in 2024. In addition, she completed a Master’s degree in Organic Agriculture and Livestock at the International University of Andalusia (UNIA) in 2023, along with complementary training in Organic Production.

    Her Master’s Thesis focused on assessing the impact of animal-based food consumption, both conventional and organic, with a focus on reducing the carbon footprint and promoting more sustainable food systems. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3), within the Agriculture, Land Use and Forestry group. At the same time, she completed an academic internship at the same center, collaborating with the Ecosystem Ecology and Conservation Group, contributing to research on forest soil vulnerability within the framework of H2020 and R&D projects realted to land management practices and the impacts of climate change.

    Her professional experience has mainly developed in the field of environmental consulting as a Climate Change Project Technician, working on the design and implementation of sustainable and innovative solutions for mitigation and adaptation to climate-related challenges.

    She is currently pursuing a PhD at DeustoTech, as part of the European project PRECIOUS, which aims to develop innovative tools and strategies to reduce food loss and waste in Europe, fostering more sustainable food systems.

    Looking forward, her goal is to continue applying her knowledge and skills in the protection and improvement of the environment, with a special interest in food system sustainability.

    Haizea joins to develop her doctoral thesis within the framework of the H2020 PRECIOUS project, specifically to analyze the environmental impact of food waste prevention actions, considering the time variable and their rebound effect.
