Dr. David Buján Carballal combines his role as a professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto (http://www.deusto.es), where he teaches courses related to Web Engineering, Operating Systems, and Distributed Systems, with his research activities in projects of the Mobile Communications Research Group (MORElab: envisioning future internet - http://www.morelab.deusto.es), at the DeustoTech – Deusto Institute of Technology research center, and the Telefónica-Deusto Chair.
His main research areas include Blockchain, Cloud Computing, and Grid Computing in the field of distributed resources and systems, as well as Linked Data (Web of Data), Social Web, and Semantic Web in the domain of web and semantic technologies.
He holds a degree in Computer Engineering (2000) from the University of Deusto, a master’s degree in e-Business (2001), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2016) from the same university. His doctoral thesis focused on the area of the Semantic Grid and is titled "New Capabilities in Grid Resource Discovery Based on Semantic Technologies."
Dr. Buján Carballal is involved in the Alastria network and other national research networks recognized by the MEC and MICIIN. He has also been part of the Organizing and Program Committees of several international conferences, including HAIS-2021, SOCO-2021, CISCI-2021, ICEUTE-2021, IoT-2019, CAEPIA-2011, and JENUI-2006.
He has authored multiple presentations at national and international scientific meetings, as well as articles in journals, conference papers, and book chapters. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for several international conferences.
Dr. Buján Carballal has collaborated on various national and international research projects, as well as industry-driven projects. He deepened his expertise in semantic technologies and Web 2.0 during his stay at the Information Management Group of the University of Manchester, and furthered his knowledge in Grid and Cloud Computing through visits to leading national and international centers such as UCM, CESGA, IFCA, and the University of Westminster.
