Ahmed Kareem A. Abdullah is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering and Sustainable Development at the University of Deusto, building on a Master of Science in Applied Computer Science and Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel. With a multidisciplinary career spanning academic research, advanced computing, and cloud technologies, Ahmed has become a well experienced contributor to innovation and digital transformation across Europe and the Middle East.
Ahmed began his professional journey in academic research, focusing on cutting-edge areas such as Hybrid AI systems, smart predictive models, and data physicalisation. His work has included extensive contributions to human-computer interaction, joint probabilistic inference, and machine learning, bridging theoretical advancements with real-world applications. During his time as an ML Engineer and Researcher in Belgium, he worked on impactful projects addressing combinatorial optimisation, confidence rejection, and information visualisation.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Ahmed has over a decade of experience in the design and implementation of IT architectures, software development, and cloud solutions. He has successfully led global digital transformation initiatives for major organisations through his experience with Google and Mastercard. As a Senior Google Cloud Engineer, Ahmed designed and deployed cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, and CI/CD pipelines, collaborating directly with clients to deliver scalable and innovative solutions. His software engineering expertise is also evident in projects like Europass 2, developed under the European Commission.
Ahmed’s global experience extends to the financial technology sector, where he has worked on enterprise-level systems, including digital payment platforms for QiCard, a Mastercard partner in the Middle East. He has played pivotal roles in developing scalable, secure, and customer-centric applications, driving innovation in both public and private sectors.

Specializing in project management, team leadership, and business development, Ahmed has contributed to the creation of tools and methodologies that integrate AI-driven optimization with operational challenges. His ability to adapt and lead in diverse environments ensures that his contributions are impactful and globally relevant.
