Job Summary

The newly funded European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant “DYCON – Dynamic Control”, coordinated by Enrique Zuazua at DeustoTech (University of Deusto, Bilbao – Basque Country – Spain), aims to develop a multifold research agenda in the broad area of Control of Partial Differential Equations (PDE) and their numerical approximation methods to contribute with new key theoretical methods and results, and to develop the corresponding computational software. This project identifies six key topics:

  • control of parameter dependent problems;
  • long finite time horizon control;
  • control under constraints;
  • inverse design of time-irreversible models;
  • memory models and hybrid PDE/ODE models,
  • and the links between finite and infinite-dimensional dynamical systems.

The chosen postdoc researchers will carry out mathematical and/or computational research on some of the main scientific priorities of DYCON in a multidisciplinary and international environment with excellent facilities.

Duties

The successful candidate will join DeustoTech Mobility Research Unit as a Research Technician and will be part of the product/service development team within the framework of national and regional projects. In collaboration with the Unit’s Head and the management team, the candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Technological development: Design and development of embedded systems and their integration for traceability solutions.
  • Outreach: Assist in the preparation of bids, progress reports, deliverables and outreach material. The candidate may have to travel to meet customers at meetings, technology transfer tests or activities.

We require

We are seeking a person holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or MSc in Telecommunications, Electronics or Control Automation.
Likewise, the ideal candidate must have:

Professional profile

The selected person will participate in a number of DeustoTech’s ongoing projects that require functional ad hoc designs for Smart Cities and IoT. This includes the early stages of prototyping, and hardware design and software programming of ARM microcontrollers and processors.

We seek a person with knowledge of electronic prototype design that is capable of designing an analog/digital electronic scheme and optimising power modules if they feed from the surrounding energy sources (Energy Harvesting). The successful candidate will also be required to design and programme all the firmware needed for the selected HW platform, including, if necessary, the peripherals library used.
