Job Summary

The European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant “DYCON – Dynamic Control”, coordinated by Enrique Zuazua at DeustoTech (University of Deusto, Bilbao – Basque Country – Spain), aims to develop a multifold research agenda in the broad area of Control of Partial Differential Equations (PDE) and their numerical approximation methods to contribute with new key theoretical methods and results, and to develop the corresponding computational software. This project identifies six key topics:

  • control of parameter dependent problems;
  • long finite time horizon control;
  • control under constraints;
  • inverse design of time-irreversible models;
  • memory models and hybrid PDE/ODE models,
  • and the links between finite and infinite-dimensional dynamical systems.

The chosen postdoc researcher will carry out mathematical and/or computational research on some of the main scientific priorities of DYCON in a multidisciplinary and international environment with excellent facilities.

The chosen postdoc researcher will carry out mathematical and/or computational research, with excellent facilities and world-wide academic and industrial-technological network, in DeustoTech (Bilbao – Basque Country – Spain) in some of the priority lines of the project, that will be identified accordingly to the candidate's profile.

Requirements

  • PhD Thesis in Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Engineering or closely related areas, with emphasis on Partial Differential Equations, Control theory, Numerical Analysis and/or Scientific Computing.
  • Able to work in a highly motivated environment.
  • Strong team working & communication skills.
  • Good written English skills.
  • Driven, independent personality.

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have proven experience in C++ and Qt.
  • Have a knowledge of GIS libraries such as PostGIS, GDAL or similar.

The following will be highly valued:

  • Knowledge of statistics and artificial intelligence (especially those related to smart agent models).
  • Knowledge of scientific libraries and software (Matlab, R, SciPy, etc.).
  • An excellent command of oral and written English.
  • PhD Degree
  • Experience in knowledge transfer projects.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary work teams.

We offer

Temporary contract – starting immediately- which could be extended to up to 3 years maximum. The work will be based at the University of Deusto in Bilbao. The successful candidate will be working in a stimulating and challenging work environment, as part of a research team with a passion for knowledge.

Job Description

The research proposed will focus on the simulation and mobile platform implementation of Bayes rule based systems for seamless assets localization, tracking, and mapping by fusing the information coming from heterogeneous but standardized technologies.

The latest challenge in localization, tracking, and mapping is not to design specialized sensors for these tasks but to design and implement data fusion methods using the already available technologies. Data fusion in localization, tracking, and mapping is a key element for further advances of the field and presents exciting challenges for signal processing practitioners and researchers.

Advanced command of English (C1 or equivalent) is desired. To be eligible, candidates must be full-time and physically present at the DeustoTech's premises. All qualified candidates will be considered.

Offer summary
